“You are opening doors for a lot of folks who otherwise would never have a chance to share their craft.”
—Greg Ferguson, songwriter
We've just concluded a series of songwriter-focused events at Backthird Audio and are busy cooking up our next season of opportunities for musicians to connect, learn and showcase their gifts. Read on for a recap of what summer and fall were all about...
"Write for the Job" - The Backthird Songwriting Conference
On September 12, we brought EMI Publishing Creative Director John J. Thompson to the Backthird Audio for one intensive day of seminars, song pitches and insider stories on the publishing business. We're planning a bigger, better Songwriting Conference for 2010. But you can read about what you missed (or didn't) here and here and even here.
Songwriter Showcases
Are you a songwriter? Songwriter Showcases give songwriters a chance to get a quality recording of your music, an attentive music-centered audience, and honest feedback from other songwriters. We also take audience feedback and correlate it by age and gender - so you know what kinds of audiences like your music best. This season's winner got a consultation with an EMI Publishing representative.
The last Showcase of the season was on 7pm Tuesday, September 1. We'll begin work on our next season of studio events - maybe with a songwriting focus, or maybe based around something completely different - soon. Make sure you're on the mailing list to stay in the loop!Is there a music skill or practice you'd like to see us focus on at a future studio event? Let us know!
