“A fantastic experience! Kyle was a master and we're very happy with the results.”

Recording Live in the Studio

Recording live band demos can only happen if you’ve got a space that is comfortable, sounds great, and is large enough for your entire band to set up. For you, it’s the most natural and organic way to record experience – you’re all together in a room, just like when you rehearse. But for your recording engineer, tracking a band completely live is one of the biggest studio challenges.

What’s so hard about tracking live? If everything doesn’t sound great when you record, there’s often not a way to “fix it in the mix.” The exact positions of microphones, the perfect mix in your headphones, the positioning of acoustic treatment and the location of players in the room – suddenly all these things matter even more.

Enter recording engineer Kyle Schmidt. Kyle knows audio and knows our studio – the evidence is in the recordings he creates.

If you’re planning on recording live, expect to spend a significant amount of time getting set up. Then – expect to make a lot of progress very fast! Many bands can wrap a solid demo in a single visit to the studio – and because it’s recorded live, it’s a very true representation to promoters and booking agents of how you really sound.
