Overdub
An "overdub" is an instrumental track that is recorded after the primary instruments, usually to add some extra pizzazz to a song that is already essentially complete. Will you record a lead guitar track on top of your rhythm track? Will you add extra synth or keyboard parts that are not there when you perform? Will you throw in some extra percussion to spice up your song? Each of these is an overdub.
