Not every songwriter wants to publish. Some musicians create music by themselves, for themselves - and they're content to leave it at that. If you've never longed to share your songs with others, there won't be much for you here.
But if you want to reach an audience - whether it's millions of TV viewers or the 20 people at your local open mic - then you need a different set of skills.
The Basic Track is for writers who share their music on a small scale, with or without money changing hands. If your music is played locally for tips and drinks, if your main goal is to capture an audience's attention - the Basic Track is for you.
The Pro Track is for writers sharing their music on a larger scale and expecting some money in return. If your music is heard on TV, film or video games, or if it's been recorded by another artist - or if you'd like one of these things to happen - the Pro Track is for you.
